First
published in 1881 as "The
Evangelistic Record," the monthly periodical was later named "Record
of Christian Work." This publication gave inspiration to Christians
actively serving the Lord Jesus Christ; giving accounts of work
being done in the mission fields, together with helpful suggestions,
expositions, Bible readings, notes, timely stories, and advertisements.
An invaluable and rare historical glimpse into the late 1800's
when evangelistic work was at its zenith. Read about D.L. Moody,
Ira Sankey, R.A. Torrey, P.P. Bliss, C.I. Scofield, C.H. Spurgeon,
Sam Jones, and others; various mission endeavors, evangelistic
campaigns, tent meetings, new hymns and gospel songs, etc. Of particular
enjoyment are the old advertisements for sundry items both Christian
and secular.
