Some Useful Quotations

Can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of people that these liberties are the gift of God; that they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever. Thomas Jefferson

He does not believe that does not live according to his belief. Thomas Fuller

The destiny of America is to carry the gospel of Jesus Christ to all men everywhere. John Adams

Anything that one imagines of God apart from Christ is only useless thinking and vain idolatry. Martin Luther

I know men, and I tell you that Jesus Christ is no mere man. Between Him and every person in the world there is no possible term of comparison. Alexander, Caesar, Charlemagne and I have founded empires. But upon what did we rest these creations of our own genius? Upon force. Jesus Christ founded His empire upon love, and at this hour millions of men would die for Him. Napoleon

If I might comprehend Jesus Christ, I could not believe on Him. He would be no greater than myself. Such is my consciousness of sin and inability that I must have a super-human Saviour. Daniel Webster

If you make a great deal of Christ, He will make a great deal of you. If you make little of Him, He will make little of you. R. A. Torrey

In other religions, man seeks after God. In Christianity, God seeks after man. Thomas Arnold
